Ticket Prices??

I just checked the World Series website for tonight. The Phillies vs Astros. Not the matchup the TV moguls would have picked, but it is what it is. What caught my eye was a small blurb that said, "tickets available from $516." How generous of MLB to offer up seating for this price. I do not care what owners or MLB chooses to pay their players. If they think someone is worth 30-40 million a year, then give it to him. My problem is assuming that John Q Public will pick up that tab. The owners and MLB are making (b)illions, yes, billons to own a team where men get to play little boys games and get filthy rich. That's OK too, but why soak the fans? If there was ,say a $100 cap on any seat in the stadium, could the owners still pay these spoiled players millions a year? I suggest they could. None of these exorbitant fees go to increase the pay for the essential part the plan; the vendors, ushers, and the myriad of other essential personel necessary to make it all happen. It is very important that Joe Superstar makes millions, but the hot dog vendor has to be thrilled if he can eke out a $100 day. I call BULLSHIT. Every player on every roster should contribute $500 to $5000 for every game they play to help support the ones without which it would not be a ballpark experience. Heaven forbid that an usher or vendor make $3-400 a day while Joe Superstar reels in 6-7 figures for batting .243 and receiving $150 a day for meal money. While this is spreading the wealth, it is not socialism. It is simply sharing the good fortune with those less fortunate than the players, who after their career may find themselves in a positon similar to those who made their success possible.
